TRAINING TOMORROW'S INDUSTRIAL WORKFORCE TODAY

Training tips

Set evaluations expectations of your employees/yourself

Set very clear expectations with employees before starting evaluations, including specific instructions for the evaluation, evaluation methods, and performance standards.
Also, lay out to the employees what they can expect from you to support their training and evaluation efforts.
Knowing what is expected from the employee/supervisor can go a long way to foster learning.

Promote critical thinking
and troubleshooting

Encourage workers to ask "Why?" when something goes wrong, whether it's equipment, a process, or daily task.
When the employee asks the initial why and finds an answer to the question, have them follow-up with another why about that answer. Why does the answer make sense/not make sense, is the answer the complete answer, etc.
Sometimes, the first or most obvious answer isn't the final one.

Consider core abilities and how they impact training

Core abilities are the broadest, most essential skills that employees must have to effectively and efficient perform their work tasks.
Consider these abilities as those that permeate all of your company's learning efforts for employees.
Core abilities are supported by the culture, environment, and requirements of a company.
What are the core abilities required of your employees, and how do you support them?
